Workers in government departments have expressed concerns regarding the conduct of Finance Minister Goodall Gondwe that he has been calling for secret meetings with head of departments almost in six ministries asking them for “any file that you have which can implicate Dr Joyce Banda.” And when the workers have declined to have any information that would support his intentions it is understood Goodall Gondwe has threatened them with firings.

“As we are talking he approached the Anti Corruption Bureaue last week to arrest Dr Joyce Banda and when they told him there is no reason to support that he fumed saying heads will roll if this does not happen. Now he has come to the State House with new auditors trying to gather anything that can fulfil his motive to see Joyce Banda implicated but again it is not a secret that the former president was not part of corruption although Mr Gondwe insists, “Find something for her she cannot be that clean.”

Banthu Times have gathered information that Mr Gondwe is still bitter about his arrest last year on treason charges and has personalised the issue to the extent that he wants to find any dirt trick of the book to incriminate the former president. ” Mr Gondwe is not on his own, we understand is just being used by his master President Peter Mutharika to find ways of erasing their DPP’s worrisome past which saw the disappearance of a 92 billion kwacha by shifting the blame of cashgate on the former president which she knew nothing about and when she found out there was looting, she did the right thing by sanctioning an audit as well as letting the authorities arrest the suspects.”

Goodall Gondwe was involved in a fertiliser supply case in 2011 and is reported to be the main man who masterminded theft of billions of kwachas by late president Prof Bingu Wa Mutharika. In his recent remarks on corruption he has caused concern amongst the citizens as he shows reluctance to focus on areas where and how corruption started under DPP government previously which others describe, ” hypocrisy of highest order.”
