Malawi to play Rwanda in friendly on August 14

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has finally ended days of speculation by announcing that the Flames will be meeting Rwanda in a strength-testing match on August 14.

The international match is part of Flames’ preparations ahead of the make or break encounter against Super Eagles of Nigeria in World Cup qualifier scheduled for September 7.

FAM Chief Executive Officer, Suzgo Nyirenda, said the soccer governing body had settled for Rwanda on the FIFA calendar date after successfully agreeing on terms for the friendly match.

“The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) will take care of the hotel accommodation/meals and local transport for the 25 member-team that will travel to Kigali while FAM will only meet traveling expenses for its delegation,” Nyirenda said.
