Speaking during a press conference that was held at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe President Banda said much as the auditors say making public such details would compromise investigations, she is also an interested party in the names of people that we’re involved in the looting of the 6 billion, 3 billion and the 92 billion of the public funds because they have to face the law.

“If you ask me on the issue of the forensic audit report and the names of those involved in the looting,I am also interested in the names of those involved for they have to face the law and if I had my way I would also request for the names of those involved but our friends who are the British auditors who conducted the forensic audit have refused to bring out the names saying it’s against their ethics but as government we have tried to ask them through Ministry of Finance to at least release the names to PAC so that the report should be discussed. Otherwise i cannot interfere for that will raise a lot of alarm in the media we will allow them to do their Jobs on how they deem important,”Joyce Banda said.

She also continued to say that the team of the auditors that conducted the forensic audit will be in the country next week in which they will be meeting PAC to discuss the Forensic Audit Report.

Joyce Banda also emphasized that the forensic audit report should be discussed in which Malawians should know where their Public funds such as the 92 billion went to and who looted those billions.

President Banda also addressed the issue of the proceeds of the sold Jet in which she asked Radson Mwadiwa the person who invented the formula which was used to sell the Jet to write up a report for the public to see how the whole deal was formulated and how the proceeds were used.

“It was me who said let us sell the Jet and the Cabinet agreed that on the three things to be used with the proceeds to benefit Malawians which are to buy Maize, buy military equipment such as patrol boats and pay for peacemaking mission such as DRC. So I ask Mr Mwadiwa who invented the formula used in selling the Jet to write up a report for the public so that Malawians should know the whole process and how the proceeds were used,” She said.

President Joyce Banda addressed the Press Conference at Kamuzu Palace two days after she came back home from the COMESA Conference she attended.
