Malawi President Dr Joyce Banda has confirmed that the construction of a hospital worth K9 billion in Phalombe is being embarked on.
Speaking through her Finance Minister Ken Lipenga state house has confirmed that the hospital project in the district which delayed since 2005 after parliament approval is to start.
Lipenga said this during the signing in ceremony of a $12 Million (K4 billion) loan agreement between the Malawi government and the Saudi Fund for development .
Government’s ministry of health stated that this is valued development which has come at the right time in Phalombe to improve maternal health in Malawi.
Phalombe is one of the most underdeveloped districts in Malawi and during the previous DPP government the construction of hospital and road projects stalled as a result of lack of forex and fuel in Malawi.
