The country’s vice President Rt. Hon Saulos Klaus Chilima has declared that he will be the next president of Malawi which led to him and few others within the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) politburo to be fired and left on the sidelines. Chilima declared his ambitions in a secret meeting held at his residence with his camp and categorically said that he is the resurrected Albert Qumayo Muwalo who was executed in prison by Malawi Congress Party (MCP) government on treason charges.
“Muwalo was supposed to rule this country, but was killed and so too many other people from Ntcheu were being victimized. This time around there is no stopping this new Muwalo in me. Whether one wants or not, I will rule Malawi.” Chilima is on record to have told the meeting
News reaching Banthu Times indicates that Chilima having noted that there is growing isolation of his office within the DPP and there has emerged a team within baying for his blood, has also formed his own front which is working towards for fighting back.
According to impeccable sources within the DPP, Chilima has ensemble a team of people within and outside the DPP which are working to ensure that he becomes the next president.
The Chilima camp comprise of the likes of Dr. Jean Kalilani, Chimwemwe Chipungu from the DPP, also Uladi Mussa from the PP, Former Vice President Khumbo Kachali, Paul Maulidi, Sidik Mia and Ralph Kasambala among many others. The group has been meeting secretly at Chilima’s Residence in area 43 where among other plans, the camp is planning how Chilima can take over the DPP leadership in unlikely event of incapacitation of current president
However, the news of emergency of Chilima camp has not gone down well with President Peter Mutharika who has since ensured that Chilima and all the people involved are sidelined from the party
“All people of Chilima team have been sidelined in the DPP neck including Jean Kalilani who was fired as a Secretary General of the party, likewise Chimwemwe Chipungu” Said the source
The source further disclosed that high profile people within government and outside have been courting Chilima in bid to propel him to the presidency. Others also courting Chilima include People’s Party (PP) director of women, Mary Makungwa and a bunch of other PP NEC members, and MCP NEC members as well who have been reported to have received K250,000 each from the vice president
